Pam Painter, Practitioner of Shamanic, Intuitive, and Somatic Embodiment Arts

This work is spiritual in nature and is not a replacement for professional medical and psychological care. While I am highly studied, trained and certified, I hold no license in the medical or alternative medicine fields. My mindfully and care-fully crafted ethics are the bones of my practice and my North Star.

The Bones and the North Star: Information and Terms of Service

The way I live and the work I do in the world is grounded in the animistic view of an inspirited world where all parts are equally and intrinsically valued as an aspect of the whole. This view engenders and inspires cycles of reciprocity and mutual care among humans and other-than-humans. Our lived ecosystem is complex. The benefits and limitations of who we are and what we do are far reaching. I believe that a commitment to growing, healing and empowerment is both individual and collective. Just like a rock dropped in a pond, our conscious participation ripples out and back creating a gorgeous net of interdependent and sustainable support for that growth, healing, empowerment and necessary change. It gives ground for the existence of the self in relationship with the self and within the multiplicity of the landscape and systems of a shared existence in the web of life. Working and living in this way is an intentional endeavor and, in my practice, more formally looks like the following:

  • You will be regarded holistically as a human with lived experience and treatment will be reflected in that point of view. This means many things, one of which is that movement of energies (healing, pattern-shifts, organizing around a vision, etc) happen on an arc. Much can happen at any point in time and that point can also serve as a sort of hinge in the longer story. The pace and timing of change is personal and often situational. There is great benefit to partnering in tracking and supporting the layers of that movement along your personal arc of change and evolution and responding to those changes.

  • You will be regarded with respect and care. I will show up with you substance-free and, to the best of my ability, in neutrality, without agenda and in active council with my spirit allies, on time and fully present to you and what you bring that day. If for any reason this isn’t possible on our agreed upon day and time, I will contact you to reschedule with as much notice as is possible. By scheduling a session with me, you agree to that same respect and care. Showing up on time, substance-free, and, to the best of your ability, present and willing for the session will enhance the work and the healing/growth partnership we share. Knowing when it’s appropriate to engage in spiritual healing work based on your mental/emotional health and wellbeing is your responsibility because you know yourself best. While this type of work can positively affect mental/emotional wellbeing, it is not a substitute for professional care from a mental health care provider. I am not trained in or hold licensure in that field.

    • A note about substances: holding space for and guiding folks through substance-altered consciousness is not something I specialize in and therefore do not engage in my practice.

  • Your dignity and mine are important aspects of the client/practitioner relationship and our work together is amplified by an even exchange of energy in a model of community-oriented mutual care within an economy of solidarity. A private session includes my preparation ahead of the appointment, our time together (90 minutes to 2 hours), and my wrap up and energy maintenance after the appointment has ended, which benefits both you and me. During this time you have my full attention. For me, part of an even exchange of energy is focusing on generative models of economic and reparative justice. As such I use a rate system for personalized services and offer free and low-cost opportunities for increased access and community care. This system is designed such that all options aim to fill the mutual bucket. What you choose to pay for services is rooted in your current personal financial experience as well as your identity. Find the full explanation and the Pay Rate Self-Assessment tool at this link (click here) - please give it a read and resource it in choosing your rate for each session.

    • Fees for services:

      • Private Sessions:
Single Session: Community Rate $120, Care Rate $135, Solidarity Rate $150

Package of 3 Sessions: Community Rate $360, Care Rate $405, Solidarity Rate $450

      • Group offering and workshop fees will be determined by the class and will also include options

Cancellations and rescheduling are kindly requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled day and time so that someone else may have the opportunity for a session during that time. If it is less than 24 hours, please reach out to me to discuss. Life happens! Folks who no-show with no communication and have not submitted payment are requested:

      • to pay in full at the time of rescheduling to confirm the new session for full sessions.

      • to email Pam at hello@thewildbe.com to reschedule a hello call.

The session fee is due prior to or at time of service so please consult the the handy Pay Rate Self-Assessment tool (click here) prior to your session. You are also welcome to pay the full amount of your choosing at the time of booking if you wish.

    • *Please be clear: Choosing your fee for each session is about your financial experience and identity, not the degree to which you value this work or my skill and ability to do it. This is about caring for the whole community and disrupting systems of oppression - I'm always happy to refer from my network when practical and possible if we are not a good match.

  • I believe in a good and mutually beneficial working partnership. Prior to a first session, I will read through your “Welcome!” form and consult with my Spirit Allies around what can be anticipated in a new client relationship. Questions I hold are: Will this be beneficial to both parties? Am I the correct and effective practitioner for this potential client at this time? Do my skills, medicine and purview match the needs of this potential client? Are there any power or privilege dynamics that might affect the relationship, processes and/or outcomes or prevent me or the potential client from showing up according to our individual ethics and values and in our sovereignty or maintaining our dignity? With the confirmation of a good and mutually beneficial working partnership, the session will proceed as scheduled. With other outcomes, I will respond via email with an explanation and possibly referral/s when appropriate.

  • If we share a relationship of any kind outside of this practitioner/client relationship: Please reach out via email at hello@thewildbe.com before scheduling if it is our first time working together. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis out of respect for both of us, potential power/role dynamics, and the relationship we share. I will journey on the possibility of working together in this capacity and we'll have a chat about my findings. If we do not end up working together, I have an excellent referral network should you want to work with someone else. If we do end up working together, you will enjoy the full benefit of being a client when we are in session together. The parameters remain the same as any client. I will show up in a spiritually altered state* attained previous to the start of the session and in active council with my spirit allies, ready to begin the spiritual work. I'll be me, of course, but this time is time for you and I will actively hold care-centered space from a professional practitioner's seat as the person you've chosen to partner with during that time. Outside of session, we'll carry on in our usual way but anything from the sessions stays in the session space with the exception of what you choose to share with others. Throughout the client/practitioner relationship, I will periodically journey about the health of the dual relationship and report to you.

    • * Trance or spiritually altered state is when the mind is in theta state creating the bridge between this ordinary reality and non-ordinary reality, where and through which the work is engaged.

  • Your identity will be cared for through confidentiality and your personhood through informed consent and good practices.

    • While I may use composite details for examples in writing or teaching, I will never use identifiable information without your expressed consent. I do engage in a mentorship circle (similar to supervision in the psychology field) during which time details from your session may be shared but never your name or identifying information. If we see each other in public space, you are welcome to greet me but I won't share how we know each other. Because I am not a licensed professional, I do not formally follow HIPPA compliance. However, I do take the utmost care in protecting the confidentiality of any written or verbal content. While I do take notes and doodles during our session together as a tool for tracking what is unfolding, it is an informal process and is not intended to be used as written records, conversations, or post-session information. You are welcome to record the session if you like.

    • In the session, I track you energetically and visually to pace the work based on what I perceive and the guidance I receive. This is for your comfort and safety as well as part of the information exchange between us aiding the work. Consent to work in this way is implied unless specific parameters are verbalized by you or me. Additionally and importantly, I will explain what is happening and continuously check in with you verbally to clarify that I have your consent to continue with the work.

    • Good practices also include:

      • Your right to choose your practitioner and my commitment to honesty and transparency in the working relationship. If at any time you feel our work together has concluded or would benefit from a pause, you have the right to end or pause our work together. I also hold the right to end or pause our work together if I deem that beneficial for you and/or me. I will always directly contact you in this case and I ask the same in return. When relevant and possible, I will offer referral to other practitioners.

      • I work within my purview and in council with my Spirit Allies. My purview and knowledge base is continuously stretched and informed though ongoing training, experience and mentorship. If a scenario comes up that is beyond my purview, I will pause the work and consult with mentors and peers about the topic without divulging your identity or I will refer you to someone who is more qualified to handle that particular scenario.

      • Your right to reach out to me if you experience harm and initiate a request for repair if you feel comfortable doing so. Your sense of safety is very important to me and, as a human, I won’t always hit the mark. I am committed to restorative practices when harm has been experienced.

      • No guaranteed outcome as a result of this work is offered. Please refer to the segment, 'A word about healing and growth'.

      • Your adherence to fee structure and payment schedule in exchange for my services.

      • Clean, autonomous, and transparent relationships free of inappropriate romantic or sexual exchange, implied or explicit.

      • This read, signed and submitted agreement prior to services being rendered.

  • A word about healing, growth and empowerment in preparation for your session or class:

    • Healing, growth and empowerment are a formula and emerge from personal understanding, cultural systems, and beliefs around the concepts themselves. Mystical/spiritual healing and self-development modalities (spiritual, ancestral, energetic, esoteric, religious, etc.) are established wisdom ways having been explored, developed, shared and practiced effectively across the planet for millennia. They are a product of culture, calling and culling, identifying and answering the needs of the community and the calling of Spirit. As such, when a person comes to this work, they arrive as a whole human with lived experiences of their identities and heritage within systems designed for privilege and oppression, with an individual and cultural belief and understanding around what healing, growth and empowerment are and what is possible. This informs expectations and the way a person perceives and interacts with the work as well as the change that happens through the work. Nothing is guaranteed as the work is reliant on and exists in a synthesis of the skill, gifts, intentions, ethics, beliefs, and experiences of the human practitioner and the systems they live and participate in as well as the client's intention, commitment, willingness, perception, values and interaction and the systems they live and participate in within the natural arc and timing of the client's personal system, spiritual story (ancestry, spiritual health, etc.) and soul-guided evolution.

It is my belief that, without fail, something does change and that something can be subtle or apparent, immediately or over time. I believe this happens all on its own over immediate and vast timelines or can be consciously crafted personally and/or in partnerships and community. I intend equanimous and skilled partnership, agency, accountability and autonomy in the engagement of healing, growth and empowerment work to the best of my ability and believe that individual responsibilities, skill, insights and gifts emerge and shift during the arc of healing. My role is first and foremost to hold space and witness. In a nutshell, my skill and medicine (gifts) are expressed through that space in a variety of ways in support of your personhood and intention and for the benefit of a more compassionate world.

The invitation here in preparation for a session, reading or class is to contemplate beliefs, identities and expectations and and how they are situated in the systems you live in. What perceived symptoms, situation, longings/magnetism, lovings, dreams, and/or barriers are you experiencing? What are your insights about that? What is it you truly want? What are your expectations and how dimensional are they? What are your beliefs around how that need or goal is met? How honest and flexible is your lens? Are you willing to stretch your perception, learning and experiencing? In scheduling a session or attending a class, you are reaching out a hand. Do you want someone to take the reins? Work together? Provide support while you explore? I believe that opening the aperture to the extent that footing isn't completely lost allows for possibilities we can't even conceive of and pathways the intelligence of our own being illuminates as we take each step.

Any type of healing is most effective with preparation and aftercare. And any type of healing is often followed by an arc of experience that can include feeling symptomatic before it all clears and the new set point is revealed. This can look like mild physical, emotional or mental symptoms like nausea or being a bit out of sorts, being tired, teary, or just wanting some alone time. It can also appear as exuberant or over-expanded. Or anything in between. Rest assured, just like tissues in the body, your energetic patterns may need time to integrate and find their new shape. Other times integration is immediate and simply taking time to reflect and be aware of what has shifted is all that is needed. The following are tried and true practices: hydrate (and then hydrate some more); eat nourishing food; take a walk, a wander or a nap; practice movement or yoga; rest (maybe with a gravity blanket); be immersed in nature; journal, talk with and share your healing story with a trusted loved one; take an epsom salt bath; star gaze, moon bathe, soak in some sunshine; watch your favorite show, or make art. Listen to your inner knowing and the way will appear. The things I strongly suggest for every session are to give yourself transition time before and after a session, hydrate and be substance-free. If your experience afterward seems more than mild, please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • A word about movement practices:

    • Movement within the context of my practice is defined on a scale of subtle and simple to more dynamic and complex. It is a gorgeous way to consciously explore and embody self-understanding and intentional evolution. The movement I guide is primarily gentle, somatic in nature and rooted in the ancient technology and spirit of Hatha yoga and the modern experiential understanding of embryology and human developmental movement and is always designed around self-reflection, not exercise or explicit healing of any medical issue, mental/emotional or physical. This option in my healing and growth catalog is self-selected or suggested but never insisted. When engaging in this option, you agree to enter any led movement at your own agreement, risk and responsibility and under the guidance of your medical care provider/s, not holding me responsible for any injury.

    • I am a certified yoga teacher with extensive training and teaching experience and my practice of teaching includes contemplation and study around right-relationship with a colonized and appropriated wisdom way and the origin and modern expression of it. This path continues to be a clear calling and so this remains an ongoing inquiry for me.
