Mutual Care Model: Guide for Pay Rate Self-Assessment

  • New Clients: schedule session via scheduler

I believe in a good and mutually beneficial working partnership. Prior to a first session, I will read through your “Welcome!” form and consult with my Spirit Allies around what can be anticipated in a new client relationship. Questions I hold are: Will this be beneficial to both parties? Am I the correct and effective practitioner for this potential client at this time? Do my skills, medicine and purview match the needs of this potential client? Are there any power or privilege dynamics that might affect the relationship, processes and/or outcomes or prevent me or the potential client from showing up according to our individual ethics and values and in our sovereignty or maintaining our dignity? With the confirmation of a good and mutually beneficial working partnership, the session will proceed as scheduled. With other outcomes, I will respond via email with an explanation and possibly referral/s when appropriate.

Established Clients: schedule session via scheduler

Changes are coming! During this time, new clients will be welcomed via email. Please reach out at hello@thewildbe.com with interest.

  • Your dignity and mine are important aspects of the client/practitioner relationship and our work together is amplified by an even exchange of energy in a model of mutual care. This sliding-scale model is an invitation into self-reflection around our individual roles and realities in a larger community and what is possible in an economy of reciprocity and solidarity. It is relational and inspirited and intended to serve as a touchstone for clarifying and honing our own values and how we consciously live and interact in this web of life. Please read the Mutual Care Model: Guide for Pay Rate Self-Assessment and review the handy-dandy infographic before selecting what you pay for your session.

*Please be clear: Choosing your fee for each session is about your financial experience, not the degree to which you value this work or my skill and ability to do it. This is about caring for the whole community and disrupting systems of oppression - I'm always happy to refer from my network when practical and possible if we are not a good match.

Cancellations and rescheduling are kindly requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled day and time so that someone else may have the opportunity for a session during that time. If it is less than 24 hours, please reach out to me to discuss. Life happens! Folks who no-show with no communication and have not submitted payment are requested:

    • to pay in full at the time of rescheduling to confirm the new session for full sessions and snapshot sessions.

    • to email Pam at hello@thewildbe.com to reschedule a hello call.

  • A session is typically 90 minutes - 2 hours in length. At this time, all sessions will be over Zoom. Before the session begins, I will have made my preparations for our time together and the space that we share, including a little "feathering of the nest" energetically speaking. It's important to me that you feel welcome and as comfortable as you can and that the space we share is contained, resourced and vibrant energetically and spiritually. Once you log on, we'll invest a little time saying hello and arriving in each other's presence after which I'll more formally open the space between us by rattling and possibly giving an invocation. Then the work begins. This can look like many things depending on what the intention for the session and the guidance given by both of our Spirit Allies (I commune with both during a session). Once the work is complete, we'll talk a bit about any aftercare and I'll formally close the space so that when we part, you and your energies go with you and mine stay with me.

If you have questions after a session or reading, please don't hesitate to reach out! I'm happy to provide clarification on what transpired. If more is necessary to explore your inquiry, we can set up another session for that purpose.

    More on preparation and aftercare.

This work is spiritual in nature and is not a replacement for professional medical and psychological care. While I hold certifications and am highly studied and trained, I hold no license in the medical or alternative medicine fields. My mindfully and care-fully crafted ethics are the bones of my practice and my North Star.

shamanic intuitive

The word "shaman" is believed to originate in the language of the Tungus of Siberia but the role and way of being in the world (and in between the worlds!) is cross-cultural and can be found by many names the world over. Though the role/s likely originates with our earliest animistic ancestors, it is still practiced today both in traditional ways and more modern adaptations. For the sake of simplicity, the word "shamanism" is used here as a commonly held word to describe the shared essential aspects of this animal of many stripes.

Shamanism is a wisdom way for spiritual healing, harmonizing and diplomacy in the larger context of Animism. Animism views the world as inspirited - all is with spirit and thus is in meaningful, reciprocal relationship. Other humans, a tree, ancestors, a landform, an animal, deities, the weather are all an intrinsically and equally valuable part of the great web. It is relational, holistic and interdependent, not human-centric or a religion. This is a timeless wisdom and way that has both existed and been practiced as a balanced and reverent relationship with all life for millennia and is practiced still both as a revitalization and a continued ancestral thread.

Within the wider animistic perspective sits the practitioner of shamanism, whose "medicine" is cultivated and offered in service to the community (human and more-than-human) as the bridge between worlds and an integral part of the community structure. The practitioner of shamanism opens a heart lens into the Great Mystery itself and ritually inquires about and on behalf of the indwelling spirit of all things, interdependent relationships, and even the web of life itself.

Through an altered state (theta brain waves) achieved by various means like drumming, rattling, prayers, meditation, chanting, singing/vocalizing, dancing, etc., the practitioner of shamanism journeys into worlds less apparent in the waking state - Otherworlds or the sacred realm of spirit. The spirit realms include a version of what we know from our consensual reality of material form as well as energies - energy patterns, sacred places, Otherworldly beings, nature spirits, our ancestors, the only limit is your imagination… or your cosmology!

In this place, relationships are forged with spirits and the bridge is formed; direct experience guides the way. Often called “helping spirits”, these alliances are mutually beneficial and the ally spirits are compassionate. Information and perspective is exchanged, intercessions are made, healing happens, doorways open and close.

A note about the word "shaman"

I am not a shaman, I am a practitioner of cross-cultural shamanic ways. In a nutshell, the title “shaman” (and the many other words for this role across the world) is an honorary one given by community or through a likely unbroken birth lineage and all tutelage and services were, and in some places still are, supported by the community who also benefit from it. It’s a whole ecosystem. While it is true that somewhere in my ancestral lines there were some who were born into role and tradition and shared their medicine with their community, I consciously came upon this wisdom way and spiritual calling to enter formal study and initiation in my adult life while, at the same time, recognizing the resonance in my bones from a lifetime of experiences. The community and the beliefs held therein are specific to the place, culture and time I was born into. So I am a practitioner of the ways that are not continent- or territory-specific, though I do study and practice the wisdom ways of my ancestral European nomadic heritage. I live and practice the ways of animism and shamanism as a disciplined spiritual calling and professionally offer it in whatever ways it can be beneficial to my community, which is, in our time of incredible connectivity, global in addition to local.

Expressions of the wisdom ways of my ancestors in my work and exploration have their roots in cross-cultural Shamanism, Norse animist spirit traditions and the oracular practice of Seidr as well as “Celtic” and Sicilian spirituality and folk ways.

shamanic intuitive

Intuitive arts are the intentional development of skill in perception and inner ways of "seeing" and knowing and it is a study of energy as the basis of everything - the shapes, movement, spirit, stories and patterns of an individual system and in relationship and context with the larger landscape of lives. Though we are all born with intuition, some are called to build skill and integrity around natural abilities. Sometimes is called psychic mediumship, sometimes it's called clairvoyance, sometimes ancestral or cultural ways, sometimes other words. I prefer intuition because, well, it just feels congruent for me.

Professionally, it becomes consensual spiritual observation in the form of readings, insights and channeling; healing work, though I prefer to think of it as revealing, organizing, empowerment and harmonizing what is incongruent in systems; and guidance and education around a goal, dream, situation or longing.

This aspect of my work is rooted in non-dual yoga systems as well as somatic inquiry and tending through embryology, embodied anatomy and human developmental movement. The intention is to expand awareness, opening perception to experience more of what and who we are - opening to our true nature through expanding deeper into what we think we know and even into the unknown or possibility. This way of being with the nature of our own existence, of being a human in a multitudinous landscape, has the potential to meet us in myriad circumstances, questions, longings and relationships and provide wiggle room and ways for understanding, growth, inspiration, belonging and even healing without alienating or shadowing over our material and energetic self. In practice, it looks like experiencing the self through deep presence and tracking sensation, energy, thoughts, feelings, and the movement of spirit; reflection, contemplation and becoming available to wisdom that seeks you via deep remembering and guidance. It may take the form of Hatha yoga through a Tantrik* non-dual lens; it may include movement rooted in developmental patterns; it may simply be a practice of meditative tracking via open or focused attention. It may also include other kinesthetic exploratory practices such as free writing, art or making. This way of exploring embodiment is like a night sky full of stars so a focus or theme helps us choose the constellation - the focus or theme - we wish to engage in private session or group setting. This entirety of this work is intuitively and relationally held and is both a stand-alone offering and a method woven into my shamanic intuitive work.

somatic embodiment

What is embodiment?

This is a big question, or rather a profound and living inquiry. It’s the foundational pre-verbal state that we develop out of and return into. It's our very beginning as two cells meet and merge then continuously multiply and choose their expression according to an incredible blueprint that is necessary for the whole to remain vital. When engaged consciously, it is a current-time process of sensing, remembering and diving under our patterned experiences to heal and align with clear and authentic expressions of this collective cellular community infused with soul consciousness. It's the Mystery emerging as Its own creation. It is somatic philosophy with sense organs and a pulse. It is deeply integrated and dimensional and compassionate. It is in relationship with life beyond its boundaries, embedded in the web of life. It's often something we didn't even expect. It is who we have been, who we are expressing and the possibility of who we are to become.

*While this is a vast and nuanced topic, generally speaking, Tantra is a life-embracing path of liberation via embodiment of microcosm and macrocosm of Supreme Awareness (non-dual) as opposed to classical or Samkhya yoga (Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras et al), which aims to transcend the material entanglement of a body toward samadhi or union with Pure Consciousness (dualism) and often referred to in yoga class settings. Many Hatha yoga practices grew out of Tantric philosophy, as both are focused on the activities and pathways of prana (life-force energy) and the weaving of Universal energies on the loom of Oneness.

common shamanic themes

Though the cultural method and cosmology varies, the intersection of shamanic practices tends to concentrate on what is known as shamanic (spiritual) illness for which there are remedies, integration of those remedies and changes, and measures for prevention. The focus can be framed through a lens of symptoms for which a healing may be in order or a lens of desired outcome with a pathway to clear and organize. Many of these themes cross over into the realm of intuitive and energy work, as well, and all are part of the animistic way of relating. Some common themes in my practice are:

Shamanic and intuitive/energy-based work around
the soul and self

  • soul essence remembering; transfiguration; soul retrieval; past/multiple lives; looking at path and destiny; connecting with sovereignty; assistance with thought forms; beliefs and karmas; work with shadow aspects; connecting with ways of knowing; etc.

Working with the etheric body

  • energy hygiene; saturations; enmeshments; curses, oaths and bindings; psychopomp/assisting suffering beings and other beings; assistance with opening and honing intuitive ways of knowing; etc.

Ancestors and allies

  • reconnection with ancestral blessings and gifts/medicine; ancestral stories, boundaries, healings, karmas, curses, oaths and bindings; creating connection with ancestor and ancestral spirit allies; building connection and relationship with your own spirit allies; etc.

Mediumship

  • divination, communication with the dead and other beings; creating connections with spirits of place, etc.

Rituals and ceremonies

  • processing grief; honoring life's thresholds; clarifying and creating; releasing; etc.
