A word about healing, growth and empowerment
in preparation for your session or class

  • Healing, growth and empowerment are a formula and emerge from personal understanding, cultural systems, and beliefs around the concepts themselves. Mystical/spiritual healing and self-development modalities (spiritual, ancestral, energetic, esoteric, religious, etc.) are established wisdom ways having been explored, developed, shared and practiced effectively across the planet for millennia. They are a product of culture, calling and culling, identifying and answering the needs of the community and the calling of Spirit. As such, when a person comes to this work, they arrive as a whole human with lived experiences of their identities and heritage within systems designed for privilege and oppression, with an individual and cultural belief and understanding around what healing, growth and empowerment are and what is possible. This informs expectations and the way a person perceives and interacts with the work as well as the change that happens through the work. Nothing is guaranteed as the work is reliant on and exists in a synthesis of the skill, gifts, intentions, ethics, beliefs, and experiences of the human practitioner and the systems they live and participate in as well as the client's intention, commitment, willingness, perception, values and interaction and the systems they live and participate in within the natural arc and timing of the client's personal system, spiritual story (ancestry, spiritual health, etc.) and soul-guided evolution.

It is my belief that, without fail, something does change and that something can be subtle or apparent, immediately or over time. I believe this happens all on its own over immediate and vast timelines or can be consciously crafted personally and/or in partnerships and community. I intend equanimous and skilled partnership, agency, accountability and autonomy in the engagement of healing, growth and empowerment work to the best of my ability and believe that individual responsibilities, skill, insights and gifts emerge and shift during the arc of healing. My role is first and foremost to hold space and witness. In a nutshell, my skill and medicine (gifts) are expressed through that space in a variety of ways in support of your personhood and intention and for the benefit of a more compassionate world.

The invitation here in preparation for a session, reading or class is to contemplate beliefs, identities and expectations and and how they are situated in the systems you live in. What perceived symptoms, situation, longings/magnetism, lovings, dreams, and/or barriers are you experiencing? What are your insights about that? What is it you truly want? What are your expectations and how dimensional are they? What are your beliefs around how that need or goal is met? How honest and flexible is your lens? Are you willing to stretch your perception, learning and experiencing? In scheduling a session or attending a class, you are reaching out a hand. Do you want someone to take the reins? Work together? Provide support while you explore? I believe that opening the aperture to the extent that footing isn't completely lost allows for possibilities we can't even conceive of and pathways the intelligence of our own being illuminates as we take each step.

Any type of healing is most effective with preparation and aftercare. And any type of healing is often followed by an arc of experience that can include feeling symptomatic before it all clears and the new set point is revealed. This can look like mild physical, emotional or mental symptoms like nausea or being a bit out of sorts, being tired, teary, or just wanting some alone time. It can also appear as exuberant or over-expanded. Or anything in between. Rest assured, just like tissues in the body, your energetic patterns may need time to integrate and find their new shape. Other times integration is immediate and simply taking time to reflect and be aware of what has shifted is all that is needed. The following are tried and true practices: hydrate (and then hydrate some more); eat nourishing food; take a walk, a wander or a nap; practice movement or yoga; rest (maybe with a gravity blanket); be immersed in nature; journal, talk with and share your healing story with a trusted loved one; take an epsom salt bath; star gaze, moon bathe, soak in some sunshine; watch your favorite show, or make art. Listen to your inner knowing and the way will appear. The things I strongly suggest for every session are to give yourself transition time before and after a session, hydrate and be substance-free. If your experience afterward seems more than mild, please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • A word about movement practices:

    • Movement within the context of my practice is defined on a scale of subtle and simple to more dynamic and complex. It is a gorgeous way to consciously explore and embody self-understanding and intentional evolution. The movement I guide is primarily gentle, somatic in nature and rooted in the ancient technology and spirit of Hatha yoga and the modern experiential understanding of embryology and human developmental movement and is always designed around self-reflection, not exercise or explicit healing of any medical issue, mental/emotional or physical. This option in my healing and growth catalog is self-selected or suggested but never insisted. When engaging in this option, you agree to enter any led movement at your own agreement, risk and responsibility and under the guidance of your medical care provider/s, not holding me responsible for any injury.

    • I am a certified yoga teacher with extensive training and teaching experience and my practice of teaching includes contemplation and study around right-relationship with a colonized and appropriated wisdom way and the origin and modern expression of it. This path continues to be a clear calling and so this remains an ongoing inquiry for me.
